Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark

You can’t fake it in the fire! November 3, 2011

So much of our life as a Christian is ‘trying’ to walk the walk we believe is truth in God.  We do our Christian exercises and rituals in hopes that what we think we believe to be true…really is true!  There are those times when doubts and confusion swirl around our hearts and souls as we endeavor to grab a hold of any stabilizing source in our life; it’s a scary business—life!  Wondering how we will respond in given situations also invades our thoughts and, at times, consumes us with the ‘what if’ scenario.

But God in His infinite wisdom and grace gives us ‘opportunities’ to discover our true beliefs!  That’s how I choose to identify the fiery trials that come into my life…opportunities; opportunities to discover God and His provision in the midst of unruly, fiery circumstances.  It’s not a matter of ‘if’ we will walk through fiery trials but ‘when’ we walk through the fiery trials!  But the Word of the Lord is sure….

When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. Isaiah 43:2

We ‘think’ we know what we believe and Who we trust…the fire will reveal all things…you can’t fake it in the fire!  We will discover a strength beyond ourselves, a grace beyond understanding and a fireproof garment that keeps us from being consumed!

p.s. – When in the fire, we are not alone!

Daniel 3:24-25  “Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.”  “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”   He’s right there with us!!!
